    ADS-B

Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) Receiving System

ADS-B is the next generation system for aircraft control worldwide. It enhances safety by transmitting self determined status information (aircraft ID, position, velocity, course...) by using e.g. GPS to air traffic control and to appropriately equipped aircrafts.

Real time ADS-B information is broadcast by the aircrafts and is received at the University of Würzburg in real time. Then it is displayed and recorded (currently by the BaseStation software). The reception system is used for education purposes. Several bachelor and master thesis topics are developed in the frame of ADS-B data processing using this platform.
