Paper accepted at ICSE 2022

12/03/2021

We are happy to announce that our latest study "Big Data = Big Insights? Operationalizing Brooks’ Law in a Massive GitHub Data Set" was accepted for the technical track of the 44th International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), to be held in May 2022 in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

In our work we take a critical view on the use of massive repository data to study the relation between team size and team productivity. We discuss paradigmatic methological and epistemological challenges that await us in Big Data, and show that they may explain recent conflicting results in empirical software engineering. ICSE is widely considered the world's most prestigous venue in software engineering, covering all aspects of the topic. Apart from presenting results that are relevant for the software engineering community and project management, we consider our study, which was jointly conducted with collaborators from ETH Zürich, to be of wider interest for researchers in data science and computational social science.
