J. Charzinski:
On the Gap between Network Security Research, Realization and Usage

Today in research we have solutions for most security problems,
theoretically being able to ensure confidentiality, integrity and
non-repudiation for all services. In practice, however, although
some of the mechanisms have been realized in hardware and
software products, most communication on the Internet is not
secure. Security features are not implemented, not activated or
just ignored by users. Even security-aware users often only have
the choice between using services insecurely or not using them
at all. This talk will list some of the issues and propose steps
for resolving them.
