Networking Meeting at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg
29.04.2026On 29 April 2026, the digitalPV innovation network held its latest in-person networking meeting at the Chair of Robotics. Partners from industry and research gathered to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest developments in the digitalization of photovoltaic power plant inspection and operation.
The meeting brought together representatives from digitalPV's broad consortium — spanning companies, universities, and research institutions — all united by the goal of developing innovative digital solutions for the planning, maintenance, and operation of PV systems.
A particular highlight of the afternoon was a live demonstration of the inspection robot developed within the RobInspect project. The robot is designed to autonomously navigate solar parks and carry out fully automated optical measurements, including thermographic imaging and UV fluorescence (UVF) analysis, to detect faults and assess the condition of PV modules. A vertically extendable mast allows the system to position its sensors optimally, while machine learning methods support the automatic analysis of the measurement data.
The lively discussions underlined the strong collaborative spirit within the digitalPV network and the shared commitment to advancing the digitalization of the growing PV sector. With Germany's installed PV capacity set to expand significantly in the coming years, efficient and automated inspection solutions like RobInspect will play a key role in keeping solar parks operating reliably and cost-effectively.
digitalPV is a ZIM innovation network funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), coordinated by ENERGIEregion Nürnberg e.V.
