Student Acossiate Position (m/f/d) for the Planning and Execution of Microstructured Elastomer Molding

The Chair of Space Informatics and Satellite Systems (SISAT) at the Institute of Computer Science is seeking a student research assistant / "HiWi" (m/f/d) to support laboratory activities in the field of materials processing, starting as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication of Elastomer Components: Mixing two-component elastomers (e.g., polydimethylsiloxan, polyurethane) under vacuum, casting into molds, vacuum degassing, and curing on a hotplate or in an oven.

  • Surface Treatment & Cleaning: Pre- and post-processing of molds using silanization, plasma activation, and cleaning with various chemicals and procedures.

  • Process Optimization: Assisting with the planning, execution, and optimization of the entire molding process

  • Lab Management: Contributing to the planning and procurement of necessary laboratory equipment and consumables

Your Profile:

  • Current enrollment (Bachelor or Master) in Chemistry, Advanced Materials / Functional Materials, Nanostructure Technology, Physics, Biology, or a related field (an advanced stage of study / Master’s program is an advantage).

  • Relevant practical experience in wet-chemical laboratory work or surface chemistry.

  • Reliable, precise, and independent working style, combined with a strong awareness of laboratory safety.

  • Good communication skills in either German or English.
