Soll das Kind nach Opa Gustav heißen oder lieber nach Fußballstar Ronaldo? Bei der Namensfrage bekommen werdende Eltern Hilfe im Internet – in Form der „Namenvorschlagsmaschine“ Nameling. Informatiker aus Kassel und Würzburg wollen die Maschine jetzt weiter verbessern.

First-year students in mathematics, computer science and physics receive excellent supervision at the University of Würzburg, among others due to the project "JIM". The Bavarian Minister of Science, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, came to learn more about the project – in conversations with students and lecturers.

Shopping, bank transactions, tax declarations: more and more private matters are handled via the Internet. However, data security often comes off badly. In a new project, computer scientists of the University of Würzburg investigate how this can be changed. The project receives half a million euros of support.

Zum Ende des Sommersemesters 2012 wurde der Lehrstuhl für Informatik IV aufgelöst. Das Vorlesungsangebot wird aber auch in Zukunft in ähnlichem Umfang aufrechterhalten.
