Our team member, Daniel Bayer, attends the ACM BuildSys 2023 Conference in Istanbul. He presented a paper with the title "Modeling of Annual and Daily Electricity Demand of Retrofitted Heat Pumps based on Gas Smart Meter Data", which is an outcome of the project DigiSWM. The paper explores the transition from gas furnaces to heat pumps in Europe's heating sector, highlighting challenges in estimating electricity demand and Seasonal Performance Factor (SPF). The novel methodology, utilizing the Jensen-Shannon Divergence (JSD) on an unpaired dataset of annual heat pump and gas consumptions, offers insights into the changes of the SPF over different years. The results of the SPF estimation are used to evaluate the additional electricity demand for city-wide heat pump adoption.
