    Die Verteidigung der Dissertation von Stefan Geißler findet am Donnerstag, 10. März 2022 um 14:00 Uhr im Zuse-Hörsaal statt. Das Thema ist "Performance Evaluation of Next-Generation Data Plane Architectures and their Components".

    The doctoral thesis deals with the investigation of concepts and mechanisms relevant for the performance evaluation of next generation network architectures. Specifically, we investigate paradigms and concepts used to enable high performance, reliable network operation using softwarized components such as general purpose software switches and routers based on state-of-the-art acceleration frameworks, but also feature-limited, purpose-developed software-based network functions used in application-dedicated environments. To this end, we cover three dedicated, yet connected areas in the context of this thesis:

    • Performance Evaluation of Single Component Software-based Network Functions
    • Abstracting Heterogeneous Data Plane Solutions Through a Single API
    • Simulation of Complex Multi-Component Queuing Systems
