In the upcoming summer term, the Master courses "Leistungsbewertung Verteilter Systeme" (LBVS) and "Simulationstechnik" (SimTech) will be offered again, as well as the Bachelor course "Energy-Aware Engineering" (EAE). For the first time, the course Bachelor course "Angewandte Statistik und Visualisierung" (ASV) will also be offered.

The paper “Irreconcilable Differences? Investigating Consensus of Post-hoc XAI for ML-NIDS via Decomposition” by Katharina Dietz, Stefan Geissler, and Tobias Hoßfeld from the Chair of Communication Networks at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, together with Johannes Schleicher and Michael Seufert from the University of Augsburg, was honored with the Best Student Paper Award at the 21st International Conference on Network and Service Management (CNSM 2025).

The paper "Theory Meets Practice: Assessment of Decomposition-Based Approximation in 2D Markov Models for Server Cluster Resilience" by Carina Baur, Frank Loh, and Tobias Hoßfeld from the Chair of Communication Networks, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg received the Best Paper Award at the 15th International Workshop on Resilient Networks Design and Modeling.

Die Zukunft ist vernetzt: Doch erfordert es noch viele Anstrengungen, Anwendungen aus Industrie 4.0, virtuellen Realitäten, vernetztem Fahren oder Telemedizin erfolgreich umzusetzen sowie große Datenmengen effizient und resilient zu erheben, zu übertragen und zu verarbeiten.

Das Forschungsprojekt N-DOLLI zielt auf die Entwicklung eines zukunftssicheren Netzwerkmanagements ab, das Network Management Systeme (NMS) mit Digital Twin-Technologie (NDT) verbindet. Diese innovative Kombination ermöglicht es, komplexe Kommunikationssysteme präzise zu analysieren und zu optimieren, um den steigenden Anforderungen der Digitalisierung gerecht zu werden.

Mit dem neuen EU-geförderten Forschungsprojekt SUSTAINET (Sustainable Technologies for Advanced Resilient and Energy-Efficient Networks) werden gleich mehrere dringende Ziele in Kommunikationsnetzen adressiert: Durch resilientere und gleichzeitig nachhaltigere Netze sollen diese für zukünftige Herausforderungen gerüstet werden.

Anika Seufert hat ihre Doktorarbeit mit dem Titel "Measuring and Improving the Quality of Experience of Trending Internet Applications in Mobile Networks" im Rahmen einer öffentlichen Disputation am 16.12.2024 verteidigt.

At the VDE ITG Hauptstadtforum 2024 on November 26, celebrating the 70th birthday of ITG in the VDE, the "Preis der VDE ITG 2024" has been awarded to Tobias Hossfeld.

The third edition of KuVS Fachgespräch - Würzburg Workshop on 6G Networks organised by our chair takes place from 30.09.2024 to 01.10.2024 in Würzburg.

Das Ziel von GREENFIELD ist es, Energieeffizienz und ökologische Nachhaltigkeit in Kommunikationsnetzen zu definieren und zu erfassen, um darauf aufbauend Optimierungs- und Einsparpotential in bestehenden Netzen und Anwendungsfällen zu erforschen und Mechanismen zur Umsetzung zu entwickeln und zu demonstrieren.

Prof. Hoßfeld has been elected as the chairman of the ITG Fachausschuss KT2 "Kommunikationsnetze und -systeme".
