Overview - Exchange Semester in Vietnam with Scholarship

The Chair of Communication Networks presents the study program Internet Communications Engineering (ICE), which provides an opportunity for engineering and computer science students to take part in an exchange semester in Vietnam or Würzburg. The students may study one tuition-free semester abroad at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) or at the University of Würzburg (JMU).

During the semester, the students may either attend lectures or take part in a study project with accompanying lectures.

In addition, the students are awarded with scholarships to cover travel and living costs. The first semester abroad is expected to be possible in the winter semester WS 21/22.

Scholarship

Every student participating in the exchange program receives a full monthly scholarship of 1025 € to finance living expenses in Vietnam. In addition, a monthly flat rate of 35 € is granted for international insurance (health, liability, accident insurance). The outward and return journey costs are covered by a one-time mobility scholarship of 1475 €.

The scholarships are provided from the funds for the International Study and Training Partnership Program (ISAP) by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Exchange Study at HUST

During the one-semester stay in Vietnam, exchange students at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology can take courses in fields of "Electronic Engineering" and "Communication Engineering". These courses are recognized by the University of Würzburg and achievements are also credited at the home university. The courses taking place at HUST are held in English. A List of courses can be found here.

It is also possible to participate in a study project. The focus is to write a study thesis on a current research topic during the exchange semester. Before the start of the exchange semester, the content of the study project will be specified after consultation with a supervisor. In addition, students should attend lectures relevant to the topic of their project. Themes for various research projects may be available upon request.

Prerequisites

Both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree computer science or engineering students can apply for the ICE program. The general rule is: you should have studied computer science at the University of Würzburg oder Hanoi for at least 2 semesters, have a valid residence permit in Germany or Vietnam and you should aim to complete your studies in Germany oder HUST. Moreover, knowledge of the English language is certainly required to attend courses at HUST.
