19th Korean Workshop on Computational Geometry

July 24 (Sunday) to July 29 (Friday), 2016

Würzburg, Germany

The 19th Korean Workshop on Computational Geometry will be held in Würzburg, Germany during the week of July 24–29, 2016. The workshop will start with a reception in the evening of July 24 (Sun) and will end with lunch on July 29 (Fri).

The aim of the workshop is to provide a forum for researchers working in computational geometry and graph drawing to discuss and work together on research problems. Following the tradition of the previous workshops, we hope to have active discussions and to work together on research problems, in particular in, but not limited to, the area of computational geometry. Therefore, it would be great if you bring some interesting open problems that can be explained quickly.

Venue

The workshop will take place in the Institute of  Computer Science at the University of Würzburg. Würzburg is a small university town, in a central location within Germany. Surrounded by the mountain ranges Spessart, Rhön, and Steigerwald, Würzburg lies in what is called the "Maindreieck" (a triangle formed by the river Main). In the midst of vineyards, the city is overlooked by the Marienberg fortress and home to the Würzburger Residenz (a baroque palace built in the 1700s and a UNESCO World Heritage site).

Most of the accommodations available in Würzburg are in the centre. It is a 15 minute bus ride from there to the institute. Further information regarding recommended hotels will be available soon.

The nearest airports to Würzburg are Frankfurt (120 km, recommended), Nürnberg (100 km), Stuttgart (150 km) and Munich (280 km). From Frankfurt airport, you can get to Würzburg directly by train (in 90 min. by ICE). For further information visit www.bahn.de.

Open Problems

As usual the workshop will mostly consist of research work in small, spontaneously formed groups. We will work on open problems presented by the participants within the first two days of the meeting.  Therefore, participants are asked to prepare presentations (~10–15 min.) introducing interesting research topics including open problems.

Fee

The participance fee is 110 Euro per person.This will cover lunches, coffee breaks, the workshop dinner, a train trip to Bamberg and public transportation in Würzburg.  Please bring the fee in cash on the first day of the workshop.
