Our new study presents a novel method for predicting the average performance of heat pumps across all buildings in a city using an unpaired dataset of heat pump electricity and gas smart meter data. This research enables a fully data-driven evaluation of heat pump performance.

Our colleague Jonas Schiller presented our paper entitled “Evaluating Water-Energy Nexus related Water Saving Potentials of Residential Households with Solar PV and Electric Storage“ at the 11th International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation (BuildSys 2024) in Hangzhou, China.

Through a collaboration between the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Würzburg, funded by Bacatec, our colleague Jonas Schiller had the amazing opportunity to visit the Transportation Sustainability Research Center in California.

We are thrilled to announce the publication of our latest research in the prestigious Applied Energy Journal. This study explores the carbon emission reduction potential and economic viability of heat pump retrofits in residential buildings within a German city, utilizing a digital twin model.

Our colleague Daniel Bayer presented our paper entitled “Electricity Demand Forecasting in Future Grid States: A Digital Twin-Based Simulation Study“ at the 9th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies (SpliTech 2024) in Split, Kroatia.

Our colleague Leo Strobel presented our work on “Benchmarking Aggregation-Disaggregation Pipelines for Smart Charging of Electric Vehicles“ at the 15th ACM International Conference on Future and Sustainable Energy Systems (ACM e-Energy 2024) in Singapore.

We welcome Jonas Schiller who joins our team as research associate. His research will focus on modeling and simulation of EV grid integration.

Dr. Shatish Kumar and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marco Pruckner orchestrated the Indo-German workshop, at the CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation in Chandigarh, India. This workshop, generously funded by the Indo-German Science & Technology Centre, delved into the crucial topic of “Computational Intelligence for Sustainable Energy and Mobility Systems: Advancing Efficiency and Environmental Impact,” a subject of utmost importance to the fields of computer science, energy systems, and transportation systems.

Our team member, Daniel Bayer, attended the ACM BuildSys 2023 Conference in Istanbul, presenting his paper with the title "Modeling of Annual and Daily Electricity Demand of Retrofitted Heat Pumps based on Gas Smart Meter Data."
