Our paper “Optimizing heat pump and electric vehicle flexibility through predictive home energy management systems within urban energy digital twins” has now been published in Energy and Buildings.

For the past 10 weeks, our colleague Jonas Schiller visited our project partners at the National Technical University of Athens, collaborating with the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering in Athens.

Our colleague Daniel Bayer attended the the 13th IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability

(SusTech 2026) in Orange County, California to exchange ideas on the future of load forecasting, digital twins and spatial-temporal carbon intensity factor modeling.

Our paper titled “Identification of Spatial Energy Demand Shift Flexibilities of EV Charging at the Regional Level through Agent-Based Simulation,” which was presented by our colleague Paul Benz at the Winter Simulation Conference 2025 in Seattle, Washington, offers insights into the flexibilities of electric vehicle charging for optimization use cases.

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Sangyoung Park and Kil Young Lee from the Smart Mobility Systems Group, Technische Universität Berlin for an inspiring exchange on several research topics including transportation electrification and fleet energy consumption modeling.

Our latest study analyzes how dynamic electricity tariffs affect the economic performance of residential PV-battery systems. Using data from 448 households, we show that dynamic day-ahead pricing can noticeably improve annual savings and overall system profitability.
