SWSA Ten-Year Award for Prof. Hotho
10/16/2018Prof. Hotho was presented with the SWSA Ten-Year Award at the International Semantic Web Conference 2018 in Moneterey for the paper "Semantic Grounding of Tag Relatedness in Social Bookmarking Systems".
The SWSA Ten-Year Award recognizes the highest impact papers from the ISWC proceedings ten years prior, in this case 2008, and was awarded at this years conference in Monterey. The publication of Prof. Hotho and colleagues discusses measures of tag similarity in social bookmarking systems, and their systematic characterization and validation in terms of formal representations of knowledge. The semantic characterization they provide can be used to guide the choice of a relatedness measure for synonym discovery, concept hierarchy, tag recommendation and query expansion.
