    Abstract

Environmental changes have a big impact on decisions about the future in urban planning, as well as farming and forestry. Extensive information about the current and future state of the regional environment must be gathered to gain enough insight to make capable decisions on how to handle the changing environmental situation. This information, however, is mostly hard to find or difficult to understand. In this project we are working with various regional small and medium-sized enterprises from areas like viticulture and agriculture to build a web-based platform that gathers the necessary data and visualizes it to allow decision making regarding changing environmental factors. The platform will contain environmental data coming from a regional earth system model, augmented by machine learning based algorithms that process data from cheap sensor boxes that are locally distributed in the areas of interest. Additionally, other information from the internet such as social media content may be used to provide high resolution and reliable predictions of the future environmental development. This way, the cooperating small and medium-sized enterprises can easily access information about the future development of their land and can act accordingly. This project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
