Immersive Intelligence: Merging AI and XR to Shape the Future of Human–Technology Interaction

Abstract

The dynamic intersection of immersive experiences and artificial intelligence (AI) within the realm of design, forecasting their pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of creative processes. As technology continues to advance, the integration of immersive technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, alongside sophisticated AI algorithms, presents unprecedented opportunities for artists, designers, and scientists to redefine their methodologies and outcomes. This exploration delves into the synergistic relationship between immersive experiences and AI, examining how these technologies can enhance creativity, streamline workflows, and foster more intuitive and personalised solutions. The narrative also contemplates the potential challenges and ethical considerations that may arise in this evolving design paradigm, offering a comprehensive perspective on the transformative journey towards a future where human creativity and artificial intelligence coalesce to redefine the boundaries of innovation in design.

Computer Science Research Centre (CSRC)

Founded and led by Prof. Dr. Ali Asadipour since 2020, the centre pioneers research in priority research areas such as computer graphics and visualisations, smart and interactive technologies, artificial intelligence, and information systems. Together they form the foundation for unravelling the science behind the Sense, Learn, Respond, and Retain abilities in humans to replicate it in machines. As part of the Centre’s celebration of its fifth anniversary this talk highlights a spectrum of interdisciplinary projects.
