Certificate of Gratitude for Alexander Wolff
10/16/2017Alexander Wolff was honored by the rector of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Prof. Volodymyr Melnyk.
As part of its annual "Day of the University", the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) traditionally awards students and employees that did outstanding work for the university. Prof. Wolff received an acknowledgement "for a significant contribution to the development and execution of scientific and educational project and for a fruitful collaboration with the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv".
This refers to the engagement of the chair within the Joint Certificate Program "Advanced Computational Mathematics", which has been established by the universities of Würzburg and Lviv in 2014. Apart from Prof. Wolff, Prof. Sergey Dashkovskiy (chair Math. II), Prof. em. Klaus Wagner (former chair CS IV), Dr. Joachim Spoerhase (chair CS I) and Dorit Borrmann (chair CS VII) participated in the program by giving block courses in Lviv.
So far, about 100 Ukrainian students have taken part in the program, approximately 20 of which received a certificate for successfully completing the whole program. The program corresponds to a total of 20 credit points (ECTS), which were taught in equal parts by lecturers of both universities. Two former participants of the program can currently do their PhDs at the Chair of Computer Science I, thanks to funding from DAAD.
