AI in the project economy (Volume 2): A new era of efficiency and innovation

09/30/2024

Professor Harald Wehnes has published another volume in the “AI in Project Management” series focusing on experiences with the use of AI in specific projects.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has fundamentally changed the way we work, live and interact. AI also has the potential to bring about significant changes in the project economy, which accounts for 1.2 trillion euros of total gross value added in Germany.

Professor Harald Wehnes (Computer Science III), together with his two colleagues Christian Bernert and Professor Steffen Scheurer, has published the second volume of “AI in the project economy” with UVK Verlag. In 27 articles, more than 50 authors show how AI can reshape the project economy and which challenges in projects can be mastered innovatively and efficiently.

With a focus on the use of AI in specific applications, research into AI start-ups for project management, changing roles in companies through AI as well as portfolio and pattern recognition, the focus is on specific practical applications. It shows how start-ups can successfully transfer research into application. In addition, the introduction of AI into the project economy is creating new job profiles and roles that require a reorientation of training and further education and adjustments to the corporate culture. The area of “early warning systems” is seen as an innovative area of application for AI in the project economy, using pattern recognition to enable targeted preventative action and thus achieve better project results.
